Tax in the Road
Driving
down the road
Turn
and hit a pot hole
On
the way to the mailbox
Grumbling
about government
Wanting
to remove the hands
That
reach in and take
And
I brake suddenly hitting
A
tiny innocent creature
That
scurries across my path
Nope,
already dead
Animal
control will scrape it up
It
is spring and they seem to be everywhere
Tending
those creatures who scare
Easily
in our path
My
envelope of duty slid under the seat
Somewhere
by my feet
I
want to forget to send
But
it is for services I spend
Who
would this money go to
If
I didn’t issue you?
So
many are in need
So,
I heed the law
Better
roads to install
I
hope they fix this before Fall
