Butterflies Poem #18

Thinking back tonight over my life and where I’ve landed and how crazy that has been.

Landing
When you go up
You come down
You fall from a great height
You try with all your might
To become you
When you stay in one place
You find your face
And it is washed clean
Of everything that shrouds
Your true identity
And this entity
Emerges from winter’s cocoon
To be a rock star butterfly
As you fly from bush
To lush rose petals
And find the nectar
That fills you
Fueling your half-drunk
Half-planned path
Until you finally land
Slowing down,
To actually smell the roses
